JobStart can assist employers to invest in their workforce through the Canada-Ontario Job Grant funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development; provides an opportunity for employers to invest in their workforce, with help from the government.

The Job Grant will provide direct financial support to individual employers who wish to purchase training for their employees. It will be available to small, medium and large businesses with a plan to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees.

In this grant program, employers choose the individuals they would like to have trained, and the training that meets their workforce development needs.

This program supports employers in taking a greater role in workforce development. The cost of training is a shared investment between employers and the government.

Quick Facts:

  • Provides up to $10,000 in government support per employee/grant for training costs
  • Requires employers to contribute one-third of the total costs. There will be additional flexibility for small businesses to provide an in-kind contribution towards their share of the costs
  • Training must be delivered by an eligible 3rd  party training provider
