JobStart is pleased to announce our organization was selected to deliver the Opportunities fund for Persons with Disabilities: CapAbility, funded by Service Canada

The CapAbility program is offered at JobStart’s 2930 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (corner of Lake Shore Blvd. W. and Islington Ave.) Toronto, ON  M8V 1J4

CapAbility commenced January 9th 2017 and will have continuous intake year round.

The CapAbility program is designed to help persons with disabilities in the GTA, whether verified or unverified, to enhance employability skills and job prospects. With extra help from JobStart’s Job Coaches and Job Developers, persons with disabilities can attend customized workshops to help prepare for their transition into the labour market. Participants are invited to attend 6 weeks of pre-employment seminars, after which they will receive support to acquire a 12 week paid work placement in the field of their choice.

The CapAbility program will provide enhanced employment services, including:

  • One-on-one employment and job search assistance

  • Participate in interview workshops, team building, volunteering & networking sessions with employers

  • Free First Aid Certification

  • Develop essential life skills

  • Enhance interview skills and increase self-confidence

     

    The wage subsidy component includes:

  • Support to Receive interview clothing

  • 12 weeks of paid work placement in their field of choice

  • Ongoing monitoring and coaching support

CapAbility program eligibility requirements include:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Self-identify as having a permanent physical or mental disability (i.e. visual, hearing, physical, mental health, learning, visible, invisible, health, etc.)

  • Unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week

  • Ineligible for EI benefits or have not received EI in the past 3 years

     

    We welcome all interested persons with disabilities to attend an information session, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at JobStart’s 2930 LakeShore location.
