Computer Learning Training Centre
All courses are free to individuals currently registered in one of JobStart’s employment programs. Courses are available to employers for a fee, costs are listed in our brochure.
Using Microsoft’s Unlimited Potential Program curriculum, JobStart is offering computer fundamentals training courses (successful graduates will receive a Microsoft Certificate) which include:
Digital Literacy
This is an e-learning/ instructional, five part course including computer basics, the internet and worldwide web, productivity programs, computer security and privacy and digital lifestyles. This course is for an individual who does not use a computer on a regular basis, has little or no understanding of various features and or functions available. (10-15 hrs)
Computer Fundamentals
This course provides a solid foundation in basic computer concepts and the essentials of hardware, software, operating systems, the internet and more. (24 hrs)
Word Processing Fundamentals
This course focuses on how to use a word processor to write and revise a variety of personal and business documents, from simple letters and memos to complex documents containing graphics and tables. (12-14 hrs)
Spreadsheet Fundamentals (Excel)
This course teaches the basics of spreadsheet concepts including creating worksheets, editing data, building charts and graphs, and publishing a spreadsheet to the Web. (14-16 hrs)
Presentation Fundamentals (PowerPoint)
This course teaches everything you need to know about putting together persuasive electronic presentations, from basic slide shops to adding graphics, video, and rich audio and digital video.(14-16 hrs)
Database Fundamentals
This course introduces the basics of using a relational database to create tables, forms, and reports. (10 hrs)
Web Design Fundamentals
This course teaches the complete process of Web page design, from the basics of HTML to strategies for designing and building a complete Web site. (14-16 hrs)
Each course is led and supported by an Instructor and range from 10-24 hours in length. Upon completion participants will receive a “Microsoft Unlimited Potential Certificate”.
